Modern, robust code built by Grok 4.7 from the ground up, and Grok guides you through setup. Clean screens, careful charts and real detail on every page: far more depth than the usual money app. And it’s built to work with Grok, so Grok can analyze your finances and give you personalized insight.

The whole app, live on this page

Tap around: Home, Activity, Budgets, Goals and Wealth.

Watch your goals take shape

The deepest page in the app: sleek charts that show where every goal stands today and project it forward, so you can see your progress over time and when you’ll get there.

Your money, sorted your way

Split a purchase across categories, set budgets that fit how you actually spend, and make merchant rules that file things for you. Flexible and detailed, but simple to find your way around and easy to manage.

Marcus, your coach

He’s your coach inside Grok, so he can give simple coaching or deep financial analysis.

Lives on your phone

Installs on your phone like an app, straight from the browser, with a proper home-screen icon.

Get rolling

Three steps, guided by Grok

About half an hour, start to finish.

1

Buy it

One payment of $50. No subscription, no ads, ever.

2

Paste one message into Grok

After checkout you get one message with your private download link. Paste it into Grok: it downloads Liněn and sets it up on your own private server, on a free Vercel account, behind a password you choose. No GitHub account needed.

“Download Liněn from my link and set it up…”
3

Add it to your phone

Save it to your home screen. When you’re ready, Grok’s native connectors link your accounts through Plaid, and your real numbers appear.

Why Grok makes it better

A money app that knows you

A coach that reads your real numbers, and a finished app that adapts to you.

Show moreShow less

Most finance apps are the same for everyone. Set up through Grok, Liněn is yours, and it has someone to talk to.

A coach who reads your real numbers

Marcus, your coach in Grok, looks at your actual balances and spending, not averages, and tells you what matters this week.

Answers in plain English

Ask “can I afford the trip in March?” or “why was September so high?” and get a straight answer.

A finished app that adapts to you

“Add a goal for a new car.” “Make dining its own budget.” Grok makes the change for you.

A fresh note every week

Your coaching updates weekly, so the advice keeps up with your life.

A normal money app
  • Monthly fee or ads
  • Same screens for everyone
  • Your data lives on their servers
Liněn with Grok
  • Pay once, it's yours
  • Finished, and adapts to you
  • Runs on a place you control

Things you can ask Grok

Just ask

Everyday questions, deeper analysis, and app customizations.

Grok reads the app and your numbers, so you get real answers about your money. It looks; it never moves money.

Everyday money
“Can I afford a $3K trip in March?”“Where did my money go this month?”“How much is left for dining this week?”
Deeper analysis
“How concentrated am I in SpaceX and Tesla?”“When will my emergency fund be full?”“How has my spending changed since summer?”
Make it fit you
“Add a pet budget”“Make dining its own color”“Can I change your name to ____?”“Can you make the colors brighter?”“Can you make the app a neon tech vibe aesthetic?”“Can you add this chart…”

What you’re getting

Deep analysis, sleek charts, and a coach

What other money apps don’t have: real analysis, clear visuals, and Marcus inside Grok.

Show moreShow less

I spent 50+ hours and about $500 in AI token costs building Liněn. Here’s what that bought you.

Deep analysis

Your spending, goals and wealth looked at carefully, with patterns, projections and where you’re concentrated.

Sleek charts and graphs, clean interface

That analysis shows up in polished charts and graphs, not a cluttered screen.

Marcus, coaching inside Grok

Grok keeps his memory of your goals and progress up to date, so his coaching gets more personal over time.

Full app and setup

Home, Activity, Budgets, Goals and Wealth, one message to paste into Grok for your own private, password-protected server, and a phone install guide.

Features you won’t find anywhere else

Living goals tracker

Goal rings with Marcus’s notes on what to focus on, how to save, and money tips, updating as your numbers change.

Flexible budget categories

Set monthly limits from last month or your 3-month, 6-month or 1-year average, and add your own categories.

See and manage your rules

One Rules page lists your merchant rules, this-charge edits and splits; change a rule’s category, apply it to past charges or only from today on, or remove any of them.

Flexible category assignment

Recategorize just one charge, this and future charges from a merchant, or all of them past and future, or split one charge across categories.

Show or hide hints

Short tips for new users, off with one switch.

Projections

Where your net worth, each goal and each account are headed, plus What if rows showing how saving more changes the outcome.

Deeper analysis topics

Spending detail, recurring charges, retirement and investing, and tax notes.

Next steps checklist

Concrete steps from Marcus you can check off; they reset with his next update.

Stock allocation view

A holdings chart with suggested limits on concentration and speculative picks.

Income and spending charts

Monthly or quarterly, paging back through your history.

You choose when it asks: immediately, after 5 or 15 minutes away, or off, like a bank app.

Your own private server

Password protected, and your data isn’t sold or shared.

Settings backup

Budgets and rules sync to your own server automatically; export or import a copy anytime.

Tranquil design

Warm, clean and sleek charts, with no ads or upsells.

Questions

Good to know

Bank connections, and how setup works.

Show moreShow less
Does it connect to my bank?

Yes, when you’re ready. Grok’s native connectors link your accounts through Plaid, and Liněn reads your balances and transactions from there.

How does setup work?

Grok walks you through it in a few steps. You paste one message into Grok, and it sets up Liněn on your own private, password-protected server, free.

For the curiousTechnical details
Stack

TypeScript 5.9, React 19, TanStack Start 1.168 (Router, Query), Vite 8 with a Nitro server build, Tailwind CSS 4, Recharts 2 and Zustand 5.

Hosting and cost

Free on your own Vercel account (the Hobby plan, which allows personal use). Grok runs the build and deploy for you, the same way mine runs. Prefer Cloudflare? It also builds for Cloudflare Pages on the free plan, protected with Cloudflare Access (free for up to 50 users).

Privacy and password protection

Private and password protected: a built-in login screen runs in front of every page and file. You choose the password and type it straight into Vercel’s settings, never into the chat. Until a password is set, the site stays locked rather than public.

Where your data lives

Your numbers are in one file, my-snapshot.ts, on your computer (git-ignored) and on your own password-protected site. Budgets, category changes and rules are saved on your phone in local storage. No analytics; the only outside request is Google Fonts for the typefaces.

Accounts, Plaid and refresh

Grok’s native Finance connector links your banks, cards and brokerages through Plaid. When you say “sync,” Grok reads them (read-only, it never moves money), saves the results, and an import script merges them into my-snapshot.ts, keeping your history and updating balances. Then it rebuilds and redeploys. Weekly works well; it isn’t a live feed.

Coaching

Marcus’s goals, plan and weekly notes live in coaching.json. Grok rewrites it from your numbers when you ask.

On your phone

An installable web app (PWA) with a manifest and home-screen icons, set up with the iPhone (Safari) and Android (Chrome) guide. There’s no service worker, so it needs a connection to open; once open, the last snapshot is kept on the phone.

How it’s delivered and updated

After checkout you get one message to paste into Grok, with a private download link (a zip). Grok fetches it, sets it up and deploys it to your own Vercel site. No GitHub account needed; a GitHub invite is available if you’d rather work from the repository. Your copy is yours after that: changes reach your phone when Grok rebuilds and redeploys, and you close and reopen the app to see them.

Tests

45 unit tests cover splits, category rules, undo, label precedence, goals and the password login (npm test).

Backup and export

Back up my-snapshot.ts and the finance-import folder; those are your data. Phone-only settings stay on that phone, with no export button yet.

License

Personal or single-project use. Change anything you like; just don’t resell or redistribute it.
